Pledge Card Procedures and Collection

Group solicitation is the most effective and efficient technique for increasing employee contributions. Here are some suggestions to make this meeting as successful as possible:

  • Give advance notice of the meeting.
  • Let employees know why United Way is in the workplace, how supportive the company is of United Way and that they will be asked to contribute at the meeting.
  • The CEO should sign this letter or notice.

Other meeting suggestions:

· Limit meeting to no longer than 30 minutes.
· Have all your supplies available, including pens.
· Require attendance.
· Know the answers to frequently asked questions.
· Collect all pledge cards at the end of the meeting.
· Limit attendance to 30 people or less.
· Personally contact any employees who could not attend the group meeting.
